Statement

Date: Dec. 3, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) released the following statement in support of the COVID-19 legislative framework negotiated by a bipartisan group of Senators:

"North Texans can't afford to wait until next year to get help. Families can't make rent and are worried about how they'll put food on the table or presents under the tree. Local governments and frontline workers are struggling as cases surge. Small businesses are hurting.

"We must work together to help the American people and use this new framework negotiated by Republicans and Democrats in the Senate to pass something as soon as possible."

The proposed bill reportedly includes funding for COVID testing and vaccine distribution, a $300 increase in weekly unemployment benefits, additional small business assistance, funding for schools and local governments, rental assistance, funding to help airlines protect jobs, student loan relief and more.
