Inhofe Sworn in for 117th Congress

Statement

U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) released the following statement after being sworn in as a United States Senator for Oklahoma for the 117th Congress yesterday.

"I am extremely humbled to be chosen by my fellow Oklahomans to represent them for a new term in the 117th Congress. I have never and will never take this responsibility lightly. While November 3rd may not have gone the way we thought it would overall, I will continue to fight for our shared constitutional, conservative values. I am eagerly anticipating the day we can put this pandemic behind us and I can travel around the state to see constituents face to face on a regular basis. I will continue to support our five military installations and the men and women who serve our nation--and am committed to ensuring defense will be the top priority over the next four years.

"We have come so far in the last four years and I remain committed to rebuilding our military, fighting for oil and gas producers across the state and making decisions to help our economy--we cannot afford to go backwards. It has been a trying year to say the least, but I am proud that as a nation we have come together and that projects like Operation Warp Speed have seen such success. I have hope for our future and I look forward to fighting for Oklahomans in the Senate."

Inhofe will continue serving on the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and the Senate Small Business Committee in the 117th Congress. Inhofe was first elected to the U.S. Senate in a 1994 special election to replace retiring Senator David Boren (D-Okla.). Inhofe was re-elected in 1996 for his first full term.
