Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's Emergency Authorization of the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine

Statement

Date: Dec. 12, 2020
Location: Flint, MI

FLINT--Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement today after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized emergency use of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine:
"Today's announcement is welcome news for Michigan families, frontline workers and small businesses. We owe scientists and doctors, including those at Pfizer right here in Michigan, a debt of gratitude for their hard work to develop and manufacture this safe and effective vaccine. Every Michigander should have confidence in this vaccine, which has gone through rigorous review and approval by independent medical experts.

"While a vaccine brings us hope, we must recognize it will take time to widely distribute it to every person. As vaccines are distributed, we all play a critical role in helping to control this virus. I hope every Michigander will join me in continuing to wear a mask, practicing social distancing and frequently washing their hands to slow the spread. Congress must also come together to pass another economic relief bill--too many workers are still unemployed, small businesses are struggling to get by and families need our support."
