Statement

Date: Dec. 10, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement today after President-elect Joe Biden nominated Congresswoman Marcia Fudge (OH-11) to serve as Secretary of House and Urban Development:
"Congresswoman Fudge is an outstanding choice by President-elect Biden to lead the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Being from Cleveland, Marcia Fudge knows first-hand the challenges that many older, industrial communities face, particularly in the Midwest. In Congress, I have worked with Congresswoman Fudge to protect funding for vital programs like the Community Development Block Grant to improve housing, create jobs and expand economic opportunities for all Americans. The U.S. Senate should quickly consider and vote to confirm Congresswoman Fudge after President-elect Biden is sworn into office."
