Today, President Donald Trump nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the recently vacated seat on the U.S. Supreme Court. Judge Barrett currently sits on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Congressman Biggs released the following statement:

"I am thrilled with President Trump's latest selection for the U.S. Supreme Court. Judge Amy Coney Barrett is a highly qualified jurist for our nation's highest court, and she has been well regarded and respected by her colleagues. I expect that she will apply the law and the Constitution as originally intended to the cases before her on our nation's highest court.

"Since her Senate confirmation process in 2017, Judge Barrett has withstood brutal attacks from the radical left and their allies in the mainstream media. Over the past week, these attacks have intensified as speculation grew about her likely nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court. These despicable attacks are rooted in religious bigotry, hatred, and partisanship, and such attacks on Judge Amy Coney Barrett and members of her family should be condemned by all Americans. Amy Coney Barrett should be judged by her intellect and her record, and not by any other standard - especially not an unconstitutional religious standard.

"I hope the Senate moves quickly to consider and confirm this brilliant nominee, and I will be praying for her and her family in the weeks ahead."
