Statement by Congressman Dan Kildee on 250,000 American Deaths Due to Covid-19

Statement

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, issued the following statement today as the U.S. tragically marks 250,000 American lives lost due to the coronavirus:
"Today is a solemn day, as 250,000 Americans have died due to the coronavirus. Each person--a sibling, parent, grandparent or beloved family member--had their life cut tragically short by this virus. I send my deepest condolences to those who have lost loved ones during this pandemic, including the families of nearly 700 people in my district.

"While there is a hope for a vaccine on the horizon, we can all play a role right now to save lives and slow the spread of this virus--wear a mask, regularly wash your hands and practice social distancing. Congress can--and must--do more to support families during this time as well. This pandemic is both a health and economic crisis. People are struggling to pay their bills, put food on the table and pay rent. They need Congress to pass additional emergency relief now. The House has acted and is willing to negotiate with our colleagues in the Senate. Both parties must come together to help struggling families."
