Issue Position

The killing of George Floyd was heartbreaking, maddening, and unacceptable. As Minnesotans, we all must take part in ensuring justice is served and work to rebuild a community, and state, to ensure racism and police violence against people of color has no home.

The status quo of how our police forces operate, has perpetuated violence and devastation in black, brown and indigenous communities for generations. It's long past time to reimagine a community safety model that prioritizes the care and wellbeing of everyone, led by the members of the community.

Minnesota is leading in racial disparities in the nation. It is incumbent upon all of us to dismantle structural racism and white supremacy within ourselves, and commit to listening to our community members and leading by example.
