Steube Joins Judiciary Ranking Member Jordan in Releasing Report on Big Tech, Conservative Censorship, and Section 230

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) today joined U.S. Representative Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and other Republican colleagues in releasing a report on Big Tech and modern conservative censorship.

"Selective editorializing from platforms like Twitter is not only a threat to our First Amendment, but it also endangers free and fair elections," Steube said. "The evidence against Big Tech is overwhelming and these companies need to be held accountable for their clear ideological discrimination against conservatives. If Big Tech can't be fair and balanced, they should not receive any immunities under Section 230."

House Judiciary Democrats drafted a report on anti-trust allegations, yet failed to include adequate language surrounding Big Tech's ideological discrimination, especially of conservative content.

As explained in the report, Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act "provides broad protections, shielding platforms from liability and accountability for content-moderation decisions."

Big Tech companies like Twitter have been undeniably targeting conservative content on social media platforms and search engines while allowing other violent, anti-American content to go largely unchecked. The report also outlines how President Trump has been selectively fact-checked while Iranian Ayatollah Khamenei has been able to issue threats both to the United States and our allies on their platform.

Earlier this summer, Steube spoke out against Twitter's decision to fact-check President Trump's tweet, saying that Twitter essentially made the decision to reclassify themselves as a publisher and accept liability for users' content.
