Massachusetts has been a leader in healthcare reform as being the first state to take steps to move towards universal healthcare. There is more work to be done on this front to keep healthcare costs down. There are several bills in the house right now that would work to end surprise billing (S.700) and ensure prescription drug cost transparency and affordability (H.1133). Additionally, I would support stabilizing the Commonwealth's nursing facilities by applying the same inflation factor Medicare uses in establishing Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) prospective payment rates (S.352). I would support initiatives for establishing a public health option (S.697). Providing equitable health coverage for children by expanding MassHealth coverage to low income children (S.677) as well protecting women's reproductive rights (S.1209) would be priorities for me.
