Building a Sustainable Future
Wisconsin was once a leader in the country. A model that other states and the federal government would turn to for guidance on sustainability and natural resource conservation.

We need to rebuild our status as a conservation champion! If not for the future of our children, then for our tourism industry, both of which depend on taking care of our beautiful state.

We each have a responsibility to ensure that this generation and future generations have access to clean water, clean air and public spaces to enjoy, protect and conserve.

"I think there is an opportunity to focus on sustainability and a clean renewable future as we decide the path of our economic recovery from our current pandemic," said Jessica in a recent debate. "I support climate-smart infrastructure, the restoration of wetlands, and incentivizing regenerative agriculture. I want to pass legislation to exceed the standards of the Paris Agreement."

Jessica King earned national recognition for her courageous State Senate vote on Adam Conover's Election Special in 2016, and you can read more about it in this Pro Publica article.

Natural Public Spaces
I will protect wide open spaces and wildlife as part of Wisconsin's tradition. Every child in Wisconsin should be able to have a connection to natural public spaces and wildlife.

Extreme Weather
We must pursue policies that build Wisconsin's natural resilience and security. There is a need to build our capacity to reduce the negative impacts of extreme weather events. I believe strengthening Wisconsin's biodiversity will make our communities stronger and more resilient to weather challenges.

Wisconsin's Waterways
Restoring watershed, lake, and wetland areas must be a priority to ensure a safe future for our children.

Clean, Renewable Energy
Finding ways to incentivize rural and urban production of clean renewable energy has a role to play in maintaining strong and healthy communities in Wisconsin, and to lead our nation to a healthy future.

Carbon Footprint
Each of us must do our part to reduce our carbon footprint to meet 50% reduction of 2005 levels by 2030, if not sooner.

We should pass legislation to exceed the standards in the Paris Agreement. Rural communities have a role to play in carbon capture and our federal stimulus should support local family farmers engaged in carbon capture.

Drinking Water
Wisconsin continues to face challenges with contaminated well water and toxic algae blooms. We must prioritize clean drinking water for all, along with safe waterways for fishing and swimming.

Clean Air Act & EPA Funding
We need to close loopholes that help drilling and fracking companies to sidestep the Clean Water Act, for example, those which allow mining waste to be dumped into the waterways. One way to ensure the monitoring enforcement of this act is fully funding the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
