Newburgh, NY -- Today, Representative Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) announced that he has received the American Farm Bureau Federation's "Friend of Farm Bureau" award, honoring his record of advocating for family farmers across the Hudson Valley.

"Hudson Valley farmers feed our communities, drive our local economies and provide world-class produce and agricultural products. Now more than ever, we need to support our farmers with federal policies that expand access to markets and get them through this pandemic," said Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney. "I'm proud to receive this honor from the Farm Bureau for my work fighting for our farmers on the House Agriculture Committee, and look forward to continuing to deliver results for New York's agriculture producers."

Since coming to Congress, Rep. Maloney has fought for policies that support New York farmers and ensure that American consumers have access to the world's safest food. His policies have been included in Congress's Farm Bills, including legislation to support young and beginning farmers, improve the crop insurance program for specialty crop farmers, address flooding issues for Hudson Valley's black dirt farmers, and expand funding for local food markets.

As farmers faced depressed markets due to pandemic-related business, school, and restaurant closures, Rep. Maloney authored a new bill to provide debt forgiveness to farmers who hold loans with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He also fought to secure funding for farmers and agricultural producers in the House of Representatives' coronavirus relief legislation.

The "Friend of Farm Bureau" honor is awarded to Members of Congress who have championed agriculture policy as demonstrated by their voting records, and who were nominated by their respective state Farm Bureaus.

Rep. Maloney serves on the House Agriculture Committee, as well as the Intelligence, and Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.
