Location: Washington, DC

Today, the House of Representatives passed the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA). This bill authorizes an estimated $8.6 billion in federal funds to help finance 34 new Army Corps of Engineers construction projects across the country. Rep. French Hill (AR-02) issued the follow statement:

"Arkansas's waterways play a critical role to our recreation and economy, and I was pleased to support this bill to provide funding for Arkansas's harbors, locks, dams, and additional water-related transportation systems especially given the increased volume of goods coming through our ports and more jobs entering our state. With more than $4 billion in commerce traveling on the Arkansas River each year, it is essential that Congress promotes fiscally responsible solutions that have a positive effect on our economic growth."
