Issues: Women

Today, women make up 47 percent of the workforce and are the primary or sole income earner for nearly half of America's families. It's simple: when women succeed, America succeeds. I'm fighting for strong, commonsense policies that address economic challenges facing women and families. We must do more to help women and their families by providing paid sick leave, expanding access to affordable child care, ensuring equal pay for equal work and raising the minimum wage.

I've also worked hard to protect women's reproductive health and rights, fighting against attempts to restrict access to abortion and birth control. I also introduced legislation to protect women's personal information about their use of birth control from their employers, keeping their health care information private and secure.

Given the Supreme Court's decision to allow any employer with a moral objection to opt out of providing reproductive coverage for their employees, we must codify women's health care freedom into law. As a leader of the Pro-Choice Caucus and active member of the Democratic Women's Caucus, I will fight for these protections and a woman's right to choose.
