Issue Position: Building the Communities of Tomorrow

Issue Position

As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Chris understands that our high-speed, 21st century economy desperately needs 21st century infrastructure. He knows that American businesses that promise on-time delivery can no longer be hamstrung by congested roads, an outmoded infrastructure, and lack of access to high-speed broadband. Chris believes the time has also come to transform America's aging transportation networks, invest in the people who make these networks run, and to build in a transformational way to support future needs.

In Congress, Chris is working to build the communities of tomorrow by:

Leading a bipartisan effort to stop the federal government from cutting $7.6 billion in much needed highway funding -- a move which would have cut funding for New Hampshire's roads and bridges by $37 million in 2020

Shaping a major infrastructure package that passed the House in June of 2020 which would increase New Hampshire's federal allocation for highways and transit by 30%

Fighting for funding and programmatic support to allow for passenger rail expansion from Manchester to Boston

Leading the effort to create a grant program for active transportation projects to help states with strong outdoor economies like New Hampshire connect people, jobs, and communities with bike and pedestrian infrastructure

Ensuring our transportation sector is greener by supporting investments in electric vehicle charging stations, zero-emission busses, and climate resilient infrastructure

Supporting $100 billion for the deployment of high-speed broadband to help close gaps that exist for families and businesses in rural and underserved parts of New Hampshire
