McKinley Joins Effort to Provide Additional Relief to Small Businesses

Yesterday, U.S. Congressman David B. McKinley, P.E. (R-W.Va) signed a discharge petition to force a vote by the U.S. House to extend the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), that expired on August 8th.

PPP has provided support to small businesses across America, supporting over 51 million jobs during the pandemic. Yet, Speaker Pelosi continues to stall on bringing forth a bill that would extend relief to small businesses struggling because of the economic impact of COVID19. Instead she has dug her heels in to insist on partisan Democrat policies that have no chance to become law.

"The Paycheck Protection Program has been a lifeline to West Virginia, helping over 18,000 small businesses. These businesses are the heart of our communities and their success is essential to our economic growth," said Rep. McKinley. "Since PPP expired in August, I have consistently heard the same message from numerous small businesses in West Virginia, that they are still struggling and need assistance. We must act now and deliver more PPP resources for them and all of America's small businesses."

As of August 8th, the Paycheck Protection Program was utilized by 18,062 West Virginia small businesses, totaling to $1,802,521,277 in loans, and saving over 200,000 jobs.
