Date: Sept. 10, 2020
Location: Issaquah, WA

In response to destructive fires in the 8th Congressional District, Congresswoman Kim Schrier, M.D. (WA-08) has released a fire recovery guide. The guide will help those affected by the recent fires throughout Washington state find and apply for the available resources to help them recover.

"Like many Washingtonians, I am devastated to see the pain and destruction from these recent fires. I am sending my thoughts and prayers to the families affected by the fires this week," said Rep. Schrier. "I am working with federal agencies to get funding to help our communities recover. I wanted to release this guide to make sure folks know what resources may be available to them and how to apply. As always, my office is available to help with navigating federal agencies."

Recently, fires have affected both sides of the Cascades. As of September 9th, the Evans Canyon fire has burned 75,800 acres across Yakima and Kittitas counties. In Pierce County, the Sumner Grade Fire has burned 800 acres and destroyed 4 homes, and the Graham Fire burned 100 acres and destroyed 8 homes.

The guide can be found here and includes information about all the current resources available to individuals, households and businesses, along with assistance for public agencies and selected non-profits that have participated in response efforts. The guide will be regularly updated throughout the fire season. 8th district residents who have questions or need assistance can reach Rep. Schrier's offices at 425-657-1001 or 509-810-5340.

Rep. Schrier will be visiting Bonney Lake and Graham this morning.
