Today, Congresswoman Terri Sewell (D-AL) was joined by her colleagues in the House of Representatives in unanimously passing the bill she introduced, H.R. 5307, honoring the legacy of former Postmaster Robert Ingram by renaming the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 115 Nicol Avenue in Thomasville, Alabama, as the "Postmaster Robert Ingram Post Office'.

"I am thrilled that the House of Representatives passed my bill to rename the Thomasville post office after its long time former Postmaster Robert "Bob" Ingram," said Rep. Sewell. "A true patriot, Bob Ingram served his country in the Vietnam War as a U.S. Marine. He was appointed Postmaster in Thomasville, AL by President Johnson and faithfully served the people of Thomasville for over three decades. Postmaster Ingram was a dedicated public servant whose commitment to exemplary service - always with a smile - was an example to us all. I thank the Alabama Delegation and my House colleagues for unanimously joining me today in honoring Postmaster Ingram from Alabama's 7th Congressional District."

"Mr. Bob Ingram was Thomasville's postmaster most of my childhood and adult life. His smile and personal service to his postal customers was a fixture in our post office," said Mayor Sheldon Day. "He was an exemplary public servant and a friend to all who knew him. I know our entire community is thrilled to know our post office will now bear his name in honor and remembrance of his loyal and dedicated service to Thomasville and its citizens! We thank Congresswoman Sewell, Sen. Shelby and our entire Alabama Congressional Delegation for working together to make this day possible."

"Bob Ingram loved his employees and his customers and treated them all like family. We are so proud of his legacy and so honored that his name will carry on with the Thomasville Post Office," said Postmaster Ingram's family in their statement.
