Today, U.S. Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, issued the following statement on President Donald Trump nominating Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court:

"Judge Amy Coney Barrett is an excellent choice for Associate Justice on the Supreme Court and I support her confirmation. Judge Barrett has outstanding qualifications highlighted by her experience on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals and clerkship with the late Antonin Scalia. She is a strong conservative choice who would uphold the Constitution, and interpret the law as written. She understands the job of a Supreme Court Justice isn't to legislate from the bench and I'm confident she'll protect the religious freedom and liberty of all Americans. I look forward to advancing Judge Barrett's nomination out of the Senate Judiciary Committee and voting for her confirmation on the Senate floor."
