Reschenthaler Helps Secure Federal Funding for West Alexander, Penn Township Fire Companies

Press Release

Today, Congressman Guy Reschenthaler (PA-14) announced the West Alexander Volunteer Fire Department and Penn Township Ambulance Rescue 6, Inc. received a total of $291,551.69 through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) program.

"The brave men and women serving in our local fire companies selflessly put themselves at risk to keep communities throughout southwestern Pennsylvania safe," Reschenthaler said. "I am proud to help secure this crucial funding for the West Alexander Volunteer Fire Department and Penn Township Ambulance Rescue 6, Inc., which will help ensure they have the resources and equipment necessary to serve our region for years to come."

The primary goal of the AFG program is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and non-affiliated emergency medical service organizations. Since 2001, the AFG program has helped firefighters and other first responders to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles, training, and other resources necessary to protect the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.

Reschenthaler previously announced $1,372,034.65 in funding from the prior round of AFG grants for four departments that serve the 14th Congressional District.
