U.S. Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) applauded the announcement that Trinidad Area Health Association will receive a total of $1,992,167 in financing from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Community Facilities Direct Loan and Grant Program. According to USDA, this program provides funding to develop community facilities in rural areas, such as schools, libraries, clinics and public safety facilities and will be used to renovate and expand the construction of Mt. San Rafael Hospital in Trinidad.

"Rural hospitals deliver critical healthcare services to rural communities and are more essential than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic," said Senator Gardner. "I'm pleased to see this important funding delivered to support improvements to Mt. San Rafael Hospital's facility to better serve Coloradans in Trinidad and the surrounding area."

This funding comes in addition to the more than $4.9 million delivered to Colorado by the USDA in July.
