Gardner Welcomes VA Grants to Prevent Homelessness Among Veterans in Colorado

U.S. Senator Cory Gardner (R-CO) welcomed the announcement from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) that six entities in Colorado will receive grants under the Grant Per Diem (GDP) program to help prevent homelessness among veterans and provide supportive services.

"The United States should always be ready to provide our veterans with the care they deserve, and that includes support to end veteran homelessness," said Senator Gardner. "We have a duty to help veterans struggling with homelessness, and I'm pleased to see these grants awarded to support critical services in Colorado."

Senator Gardner is also leading efforts to expand allowable uses of the VA GPD program to better service veterans and their families. In January of 2019, Gardner introduced the Creating A Reliable Environment (CARE) for Veterans' Dependents Act with U.S. Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO) to allow the VA to compensate VA Grant and Per Diem program funded facilities for care provided to dependents of homeless veterans.

Aurora Comprehensive Community Health Center
Comitis Crisis Center
Catholic Charities and Community Services of the Archdiocese of Denver
Colorado Coalition for the Homeless
The Salvation Army
Volunteers of America Colorado Branch
