Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) commemorated the 100th Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment--guaranteeing women the right to vote. Yesterday, Rep. Cisneros hosted a CA-39 Women's Forum with women leaders in the community to discuss this milestone. To watch the forum, click here.

"The 100th Anniversary of the 19th Amendment is a historic milestone for our country and our democracy. For decades, women leaders, activists, and community members fought for the right to vote. We also recognize the continued struggle Black women and other women of color had to overcome for full enfranchisement. While the amendment was a significant step in voting rights, the fight for gender equality is never over," said Rep. Cisneros. "We need to fix the gender disparities in healthcare, the workplace, the military, and all parts of our society. This centennial is a celebration of how far we've come as a country, and a reminder of how much more we need to do in order to form a more perfect union."
