Aguilar Announces Over $500,000 for City of San Bernardino Public Safety
Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that the Department of Justice awarded $533,314 in Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program funds to the San Bernardino Police Department (SBPD). The funds will enable SBPD to invest in a wide array of necessary resources to reduce crime in the City of San Bernardino. This funding comes on the heels of a $5.3 million Department of Justice Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) grant received by SBPD last month.

"As the City of San Bernardino continues struggling with a high crime rate and budget shortfalls to cover the cost of public safety and other city services, I'm proud to announce this federal funding to help SBPD make our community a safer place to live and raise a family," said Rep. Aguilar.

"Grant funding is a valuable tool to purchase resources and equipment that the department may not have had access to otherwise. The San Bernardino Police Department intends to use JAG Program funding to purchase equipment and services necessary to enhance criminal investigations, apprehend violent criminals, and reduce the occurrence of crime in the City," stated San Bernardino Police Department Chief Eric McBride.

Rep. Aguilar serves as Vice Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, the committee responsible for allocating funding for federal agencies and grant programs.
