Congressman Cohen Announces $2.3 Million Grant to Memphis International Airport

Statement

Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09), a senior member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, today announced that Memphis International Airport will receive a $2,362,542 grant from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for Phase 7 funding of a de-icing pad collection area. The grant includes $236,254 in Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding intended to help airports that have seen sharp declines in air travel during the pandemic avoid making the usual local funding match.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"This funding is an important long-term investment in the airport's future and will create efficiencies in air travel, especially during the winter months. This is good for both the Memphis economy and for air travelers passing through our airport."
