Rep. Miller's Statement on Tom DeLay

WASHINGTON--U.S. Representative Candice Miller today issued the following statement regarding Tom DeLay's decision to step down as the Majority Leader.

"I think the decision made by Mr. DeLay was appropriate. Our nation faces many important challenges and Congress must be focused on the important business of the American people. I look forward to electing a new leader and working to restore the confidence of the people in their government, including enacting lobbying and ethics reforms that will indeed restore that confidence. The focus of the United States Congress cannot be distracted by the actions of any one individual. We must always keep the best interests of the people at the forefront. For this reason I am glad that Mr. DeLay has agreed with many that the Republican Conference and the United States House of Representatives need to move forward."
