Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) released the following statement regarding President Trump's threat to delay the election:

"The President of the United States does not have the power to delay the election. The Constitution gives Congress the clear authority to set the federal election date. It's hypocritical for the President to demand that schools reopen, but say it's not safe to vote. Make no mistake, I will fight any effort to undermine our democracy and the American people's right to vote. This is just another failed attempt by the President to distract us from his lack of leadership in our nation's coronavirus response."
