Today, Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros praised bipartisan, unanimous House passage of the National Museum of the American Latino Act (H.R. 2420). This bill would establish the National Museum of the American Latino in the Smithsonian Institution. The bill passed by a voice vote. Rep. Cisneros is a cosponsor of the legislation and delivered a floor speech today in support of it.

"The Latino community has and continues to play a pivotal role in the growth and success of the United States. For hundreds of years, they've been at the forefront of the fight for justice, equality, and opportunity--breaking barriers and advancing rights for all Americans," said Rep. Cisneros. "From education to science and politics to arts, Latinos and Latinas have been pioneers, leaders, innovators, and game changers. Latino history is American history, and it deserves to have its own place on the National Mall. I'm grateful my Republican and Democratic colleagues agreed and passed this historic bill today."
