Hearing of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee - Sinema Discusses Federal Coronavirus Relief Efforts & Preparation for Future Challenges

Arizona senior Senator Kyrsten Sinema spoke today in a Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing on federal coronavirus relief efforts and underscored the need for Congress to develop policies to better prepare America for future public health emergencies.

"From the Paycheck Protection Program to enhanced unemployment benefits, the federal government has stepped up and is providing assistance to our states and communities. Congress has an important role in making sure these programs are working the way they should. We must also develop policy ideas and initiatives to improve assistance programs so we are more prepared for whatever future challenges may arise," said Sinema.

During today's hearing Sinema questioned officials on how Congress can enhance oversight of coronavirus relief funds. Sinema also asked witnesses how Congress can improve existing federal programs to better serve Arizona families and employers in need.
