Hoyer Statement on Passage of First Minibus of Fiscal Year 2021 Appropriations Bills

Statement

Date: July 24, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement today after the House passed the first minibus of Fiscal Year 2021 appropriations bills, which includes State-Foreign Operations, Agriculture-Rural Development-FDA, Interior-Environment, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs:

"I'm pleased the House took action today to fund a significant portion of the government. The legislation passed today will strengthen our efforts to protect the environment and improve the health of the Chesapeake Bay, which is so critically important to our region. It also includes funding for rural broadband to expand access to high speed internet, resources to support our veterans, and nutrition assistance for families and children. This legislation also requires the National Park Service to remove any commemorative displays honoring the Confederacy. Hate and bigotry have no place in our society, and this bill take steps to address this blot on our history. Congress must continue to work to fund the government before the end of the fiscal year, and I urge my colleagues in the Senate to take up this legislation without delay."
