Doyle Condemns Trump Threat to Deploy Federal Law Enforcement Agents in U.S. Cities

U.S. Representative Mike Doyle (PA-18) released the following statement today in response to President Trump's announcement that he may send additional federal law enforcement officers to a number of U.S. cities.

"I'm outraged that the President ordered anonymous federal law enforcement officials into Portland to confront what were largely peaceful protests -- beating protesters, dragging them into unmarked vehicles, and detaining many of them without filing charges against them.

"Now he's announced that he's ordering federal law enforcement officials into other U.S. cities as well.

"The use of heavily militarized federal law enforcement agents against peaceful protesters flies in the face of everything the United States stands for. It's un-American and it threatens to destroy our democracy.

"I will not allow this President to exceed his authority and use armed federal forces to deny Americans their Constitutional rights."
