Statement

Date: July 17, 2020
Location: Springfield, MA

In response to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit Panel's decision in ACAP vs. Treasury, Chairman Neal released the following statement blasting the administration's promotion of short-term health plans that are sold on the Marketplace:

"Today's ruling to uphold the Trump Administration's expansion of short-term health plans allows sabotage to the American health care system to stand and is a major blow to patients. These junk plans lack basic coverage and often don't even cover pre-existing conditions, putting millions of Americans at risk. It is absolutely cruel to flood the Marketplace with these insufficient plans that are no substitute for comprehensive coverage. The Affordable Care Act was created to give Americans peace of mind that they will be able to access and afford health care when they need it most. Right now, amidst a global health crisis, the assurance of high-quality, comprehensive coverage is needed more than ever."
