When will Democrats learn that throwing money at a problem is not a solution?

Last week, House Democrats shoved through Congress H.R. 2, their so-called "Moving Forward Act." This partisan infrastructure bill was rushed to the House floor without any input from Republicans -- let alone input from members of their own party -- with a whopping $1.5 trillion price tag. Like their other partisan messaging exercises, this bill has no chance of becoming law.
This appears to be the direction the Democratic party is headed. This week, Joe Biden unveiled his economic agenda which includes $300 billion in additional spending on technologies such as 5G cellular networks, but no real reforms to enable building of the infrastructure.
Republicans welcome the opportunity for bipartisan solutions to ensure American leadership in emerging technologies, energy production, and updated infrastructure -- these are all bipartisan priorities. However, throwing money at these problems simply will not fix them, as we have learned time and time again.
At this week's E&C full committee hearing on issues impacting U.S. tribal communities, Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez highlighted the importance of policies to streamline the deployment of broadband infrastructure.
"We've been talking about funding. We've been talking about projects. But what we really should be focusing on and to get these projects done quickly is to evaluate federal laws, policies, and regulations. Those are those no-cost changes that can occur so projects can get done quickly and completely," said Nez.

Now more than ever, Americans want relief and results, and the best way to accomplish this is by working together to encourage innovation.
