Issue Position: Government Consolidation

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2020

Redundant units of local government cost DuPage County millions of dollars. Taxpayers deserve an efficient and effective government -- and Deb is working to consolidate and streamline government services in DuPage County.
One of the first bills Deb passed as a legislator was Senate Bill 494, a bill to consolidate local government in DuPage County. This bill made our county government more efficient and delivered major savings for taxpayers. This was the first consolidation bill to be passed and implemented in the state of Illinois. It's now become a model for counties across Illinois as they look to reduce wasteful spending.
And Deb's not done. Earlier this year, she passed House Bill 5123 -- a bill to eliminate wasteful and redundant layers of bureaucracy at the DuPage County Board of Elections. This bill will allow DuPage County to provide better election services, while saving taxpayers millions of dollars.
