Rep. Harris Announces Homeless Veteran Employment Grant to Zion House of Salisbury

Rep. Andy Harris, M.D. (MD-01) announced the award of a $300,000 Department of Labor (DOL), Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP) grant to St. James A.M.E. Zion Church - Zion House, located in Salisbury. According to the Labor Department, "HVRP grants are awarded on a competitive basis to state and local workforce investment boards, local public agencies and nonprofit organizations, tribal governments, faith-based and community organizations. Through the services provided, homeless veterans may learn occupational skills, attain apprenticeships or on-the-job training opportunities, and receive job search and placement assistance."

Congressman Harris made the following statement:

"As a veteran and member of the House Appropriations Committee, I understand the struggle that veterans can face when seeking to re-enter the domestic workforce. Grants like these have my full support, and Zion House should be commended for their work in assisting homeless veterans in the Salisbury region attain job skills and experience to become independent and thrive in our community. These veterans served our country and have earned our support."
