Pascrell Joins Barr Impeachment Resolution

U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) has joined a resolution to investigate impeachable offenses committed by U.S. Attorney General William P. Barr. Pascrell has been a foremost leader in Congress to demand Barr's impeachment, leading calls for Barr's impeachment since May of 2019. In October 2019, he wrote to the District of Columbia and Virginia state bar associations on the rampant violations by Barr of the D.C. and Virginia bar Rules of Professional Conduct and urged the two bodies to impose strong sanctions of Barr's legal status up to and including revoking his personal law licenses.

"Bill Barr is a grave threat to American democracy. Our union survives upon respect for the rule of law, not just in theory but in execution. Bill Barr's debasement of his office, his disregard of established law, and his cover-up of Trump's many crimes are clear violations of the oath he took to defend our Constitution," said Rep. Pascrell. "I've been calling for Barr's impeachment since May of last year, when he tampered with the Special Counsel's findings of Trump's crimes. I'm glad that the Congress is at long last considering exercising its power to hold this corrupt cabinet official accountable. If we are successful, posterity will be able to look back at this era of executive corruption and know that the People's House did what was right."

Introduced by Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN-09), the full resolution outlining Barr's abuse of office at the behest of Donald Trump can be viewed here. The measure calls upon the House Judiciary Committee to inquire into Barr's violations under the same House rules applied during the impeachment inquiry into Trump last year.
