Today, U.S. Senate candidate and state Representative Charles Booker continued his fight for voting rights for all Kentuckians by introducing state legislation to automatically restore voting rights to former felons who have completed their sentences.

Charles Booker knows that our democracy works better when all Kentuckians have a voice. There is no issue more fundamental to Mitch McConnell's corrupt DC swamp than voter disenfranchisement. Charles understands that beating Mitch McConnell will take a bold movement that includes everyone.

In a statement today, Booker commented:

"You will always know what side I am on: the side of the people. Nothing is more fundamental to the movement we are building than empowering Kentuckians, and automatic voting rights restoration is a critical step in order to break the political grip of monied special interests and empower all people in our political system.

"Mitch McConnell is afraid of the people. He knows that tax breaks for the wealthiest Americans and sweetheart deals for corporate special interests aren't popular with Kentuckians. That's why he has stood against every effort to make voting easier or ensure that regular people have a say in what happens in our Commonwealth.

"Kentuckians are tired of the rich and powerful making decisions without everyday folks in the room. When people can vote, they have a voice. That's how we will build a government that works for all of us and fights for the ideas that will improve people's lives."
