Congressman Connolly has always made it a top priority to support the men and women who have served our country. When these individuals come back home, he has worked to ensure that they have reliable access to medical care, the chance to further their education, and the opportunity to get back into the community and workforce with job availability. The 11th district is home to more than 80,000 veterans and their families. Gerry has supported legislation that is geared towards improving the lives of our veterans, such as the Veterans' Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2017. This bill increased compensation to veterans who were disabled while in service. He also co-sponsored the Veterans Mental Health Accessibility Act, which aims to extend and enhance medical services with nursing homecare, and special attention to all mental illnesses for combat veterans on active duty. Congressman Connolly has also been a strong advocate for more funding to the Department of Veterans Affairs, ensuring that our veterans are offered the best care possible.

Working for veterans and their families has been very important to Gerry. His efforts have gained recognition by Our Military Kids, who awarded him the "Friend of Military Kids" award for his work on behalf of military families. Additionally, the Congressman has repeatedly received a perfect score from the Military Officers Association of America. Gerry will continue working for these men and women who have honorably fought to defend our country.
