U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) today voted in favor of the Great American Outdoors Act, which passed the Senate with a vote of 73-25.

"The Great American Outdoors Act, passed by the Senate today, is critical to every Kansan and American who enjoys parks and recreation," said Sen. Roberts. "Nearly every county in Kansas has a project funded by the Land and Water Conservation Fund, meaning there is now more access to public lands for hunting, fishing and other recreational activities. I'm proud to have supported this legislation to protect one of America's best attributes, the great outdoors."

The Great American Outdoors Act will fully and permanently fund the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and restore our national parks by addressing the massive maintenance backlog on federal public lands that results in deferred maintenance projects in national parks throughout the country. This legislation includes S.500, the Restore our Parks Act, and S.1081, the Land and Water Conservation Fund Permanent Funding Act, both pieces of legislation Senator Roberts cosponsored.

In 2019, Senator Roberts supported permanent reauthorization of LWCF, which passed the Senate 92-8 and was signed into law by President Donald Trump as part of the John Dingell Conservation Act of 2019. Kansas has received over $50 million and funded nearly 700 projects by utilizing LWCF funding for parks and recreation.
