Blunt Announces $6.5 Million Transit Grant for City of Columbia

Today, U.S. Senator Roy Blunt (Mo.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies, announced that the Federal Transit Administration is awarding a $6.5 million CARES Act grant to the City of Columbia to help address COVID-19 related expenses.

"Cities across Missouri have had to direct limited resources to fight this pandemic while facing lost revenue in several areas, including public transit," said Blunt. "This funding will help the city cover costs like driver salaries, fuel, and maintenance. Making sure public transit continues to be a safe and reliable option is critically important as businesses reopen and colleges prepare for the upcoming school year."

The Blunt-backed CARES Act included $25 billion in Transit Infrastructure Grants to help transit providers, including states and local governments across the nation, cover operating and capital expenses. The grant is 100% federally funded with no local match.
