Rep. Katko Announces $110K in Federal Funds to Support On Point for College

U.S. Rep. John Katko (NY-24) today announced that On Point for College has received $110,394 from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency that supports service and volunteering organizations including AmeriCorps, Senior Corps, and the Volunteer Generation Fund. The funds were awarded as part of the CNCS Days of Service Grant Program, and will support local On Point for College volunteers at a September 11th Day of Service event in 2021. In Congress, Rep. Katko has advocated for increased funding for the CNCS.

September 11th is Patriot Day and a National Day of Service and Remembrance. On this day Americans across the country are called to volunteer in their local communities in tribute to the individuals lost and injured in the attacks, first responders, and the many who have risen in service to defend freedom. On Point for College will use the award to train 100 volunteers to become mentors and drivers for low-income college students in Central New York.

In Congress, I've consistently worked to empower these organizations and I am pleased to announce On Point for College has received over $110,000 to support its September 11th Day of Service Event," said Rep. "With this funding, On Point for College will train 100 volunteers in Central New York so they can safely transport On Point students from college while providing advice and support as mentors. I'm proud to have advocated for these funds and applaud On Point for College for their continued work to improve the lives of students in our community."
