In the United States, women working full-time make 78 cents for every dollar made by their male coworkers. Women of color fare even worse. African-American women earn 64 cents and Latina women earn just 56 cents. In 2017, this is unacceptable.

That's why Tim cosponsored the Paycheck Fairness Act and the Fair Pay Act of 2017. The Paycheck Fairness Act closes loopholes in the Equal Pay Act, offering more solutions to women being paid unfairly by their employers. The Fair Pay Act of 2017 prohibits wage discrimination based on gender or race. It is time for women, especially women of color, to be paid equally for equal work.

The United States is the only industrialized country that does not offer paid family leave. Paid time off for new parents or those caring for sick loved ones benefits families, children, and the economy. This is why Tim cosponsored the Federal Employees Paid Parental Leave Act, which requires federal employees to receive 6 to 12 weeks of paid leave.

Ohio ranks 45th in the nation for infant mortality. We need to help our smallest citizens survive the first year of life. That's why Tim introduced the Healthy Start Reauthorization Act to support community-based approaches to improving birth outcomes and maternal health. Tim knows that when we support women and families, we strengthen the entire nation.
