The decision of whether to end a pregnancy is complex and deeply personal. Tim has listened to women from Ohio and across the nation who faced this decision, and their stories tell of life-threatening health problems, abusive relationships, and the challenges of family life and motherhood. Tim respects that these are private decisions that call for compassion and trust, not judgment and government interference.

Tim believes that there are people of good conscience on both sides of the abortion issue, but that ultimately we must trust women, their families, and their doctors. Personal medical decisions should not be made by politicians in Washington.

Tim also believes that politicians on both sides of the aisle should be able to work together to increase access to contraception in order to prevent unplanned pregnancies. This is the surest way to reduce the number of abortions.

Throughout his career, Tim has supported policies that empower women to prevent unplanned pregnancies and ensure new mothers have access to affordable health care, housing and healthy food. In response to recent partisan attacks on access to women's health coverage, he has fought back against attempts to defund Planned Parenthood and supported legislation that would expand access to reproductive healthcare.

TAKING ACTION ON REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH
Tim cosponsored the EACH Woman Act, which ensures every woman has access to safe, affordable women's healthcare, regardless of her income or insurance coverage.
As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, Tim supports access to contraceptives, prevention education, and family planning programs .
Tim supports repealing the Global Gag Rule, which prevents US aid from going to any foreign organization that has anything to do with abortion including counseling, referral and advocacy for liberalizing abortion laws. To be clear, federal law already prohibits US foreign aid dollars from going to abortion as a method of family planning. Under past presidents, the Global Gag Rule has had a devastating effect on family planning in the developing world. In response to President Trump's executive order reinstating the Global Gag Rule, Tim cosponsored the HER Act, which repeals this rule and supports comprehensive family planning and women's reproductive rights around the world.
