Supporting Our Veterans
Our veterans have risked their lives to ensure the safety of ours. The least we can do is make sure that every veteran and their family is taken care of. I hosted a Veterans Benefits Resource Fair, to bring services, resources and information to veterans in one convenient location. I also voted for two tax credits, the Returning Heroes and Wounded Warrior Tax Credits, which incentivize the hiring of veterans.

I was able to help secure $200,000 in new funding from the Department of Labor for the Manufacturing Advocacy and Growth Network (MAGNET) program, to provide training and job placement services to returning veterans in key manufacturing jobs available in Northeast Ohio such as machinists, inspection/quality technicians and equipment maintenance personnel. The primary purpose of the MAGNET program is to identify, train and match returning veterans with existing jobs that are going unfilled due to a lack of skilled applicants. The program will respond to the employment challenges and, by extension, housing challenges faced by veterans.
