Issues: Senior Citizens

Our nation's seniors have made and continue to make enormous contributions to our civic life and to the success and prosperity of our nation. Every day, they deploy their talent and experience through service and volunteerism. We owe it to them to keep Medicare premiums affordable and Social Security on pace with the cost of living.

Sarbanes Co-Sponsored

Protecting and Preserving Social Security Act (H.R. 1811)
Would "scrap the cap" on wages that are subject to the Social Security payroll tax which would extend the solvency of the Social Security Trust Fund by decades. Would also establish a new formula for computing the Cost of Living Adjustment for seniors so that it more fairly reflects their daily expenses.

Prescription Drug Affordability Act of 2015 (H.R. 3513)
Would allow Medicare to negotiate pharmaceutical prices, allow consumers to import cheaper drugs from Canada and require companies to disclose the costs related to particular products and prices they charge in other countries.

Sarbanes Voted

FOR The Affordable Care Act (Became Law 2010)
Landmark health care reform bill helps lower prescription drug prices, closes the donut hole, eliminates copays and deductibles for preventive care visits, eliminates fraud and abuse of the system, and increases medicare payment to doctors.
