Rep. Tom Reed Delivers Critical Early Childhood Education Grant Funding for Allegany and Chemung County

Today, Rep. Tom Reed announced $5,980,097 in grant funding for Allegany County Community Opportunities and Rural Development (ACCORD) and the Economic Opportunity Program of Chemung County, Inc. ACCORD will receive $2,596,596 and the Economic Opportunity Program of Chemung will receive $3,383,501 for Head Start and Early Head Start. Head Start and Early Head Start programs promote school readiness for early education students from low-income families. These opportunities give students a learning boost that positively impacts their educational experience.

"We care about making sure families across the district have fair access to the quality early education programs that are proven to be instrumental to a child's learning," said Tom. "We appreciate the work these two organizations have done for the parents and children in our communities and will continue to advocate for these programs moving forward."

Tom recently visited A Children's Place daycare in Jamestown with State Assemblyman Andy Goodell to discuss the important role childcare facilities and their frontline workers play in our communities. Tom also called on Governor Cuomo to immediately release federal childcare funding that has been held up in Albany to ease the serious financial burden many facilities are facing across the state.
