Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Defense

Today, the Members of the House Armed Services Committee's Subcommittee on Readiness, passed their subcommittee's mark for the FY21 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Congressman Lamborn, Ranking Member of the Readiness Subcommittee, released the following statement on the passage of the markup:

"As the world becomes an increasingly dangerous place and challenges to the national security of the United States grow, it is imperative that we fund our military commensurate to the threat. Today's Readiness Subcommittee mark focuses on several areas that are key to military readiness in the Pike Peaks region. It provides $28 million for a much needed physical fitness center and $15.6 million for a SOF tactical equipment maintenance facility at Fort Carson, and $15 million for a National Guard readiness center at Peterson AFB. This mark also calls for increased transparency on the use of PFAS, incentives the development of a non-PFAS firefighting agent, and it continues the reforms to our military housing to improve the quality of life for service members in our community. Lastly, the mark strengthens the Defense Community Infrastructure Program and Defense Access Roads program that will enhance infrastructure throughout the region. I want to thank Chairman Garamendi for his leadership and for continuing the bipartisan tradition of this subcommittee. As a Member with the honor of representing five military installations, I will always fight to ensure the safety and readiness of our own men and women in uniform."
