Perdue, Sinema Take Action To Strengthen Cybersecurity

U.S. Senators David Perdue (R-GA) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) are taking bipartisan action to strengthen America's cybersecurity. Today, the senators introduced the Cybersecurity Advisory Committee Authorization Act of 2020, which will establish a cybersecurity advisory committee to consult with the Director of Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The committee will include members from state and local governments and a broad range of industries, who will make recommendations to the CISA Director on the development and implementation of cybersecurity-related policies.

"Our adversaries are getting smarter and more sophisticated every day, and we have to be ready to respond at any moment. This advisory committee will provide critical insight into the cyber threat environment and develop best practices for deterrence and detection," said Senator Perdue, a member of the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Cybersecurity. "Georgia has become a global leader in cybersecurity training, research, and innovation. At Fort Gordon, partnerships between academia, business, and the military have been extremely effective, and we can replicate that collaboration on the federal level. Working together, we can stay one step ahead of cyber attacks."
