Reps. Miller & Mooney Partner to Prioritize West Virginia Highways in Infrastructure Funding Package

Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) introduced the Appalachian Development Highway System Reform amendment to H.R. 2, INVEST in America Act, during the bill's mark-up in the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee yesterday. Originally introduced by Congressman Alex Mooney (R-WV) as H.R. 4896, the AID in Appalachia Act, in the 116th Congress, this legislation would provide Appalachian states like West Virginia with new flexibility to direct federal funding to projects that need additional support, like Corridor H.

This legislation has received bipartisan support in the House and was included in the Senate Highway Bill.

"Improving West Virginia's highway system is essential in our work to diversify our economy and bring in new opportunity to our state," said Congresswoman Miller. "This commonsense legislation will free up federal dollars so they can best be used to connect our state and allow our goods and products to be transported around the region, and the country. I am proud to work with Congressman Mooney to revitalize West Virginia."

The amendment passed committee and will be added to the final bill as it moves to the House Floor.
