Madison Cawthorn Signs "Taxpayer Protection Pledge"

Statement

Date: Jan. 28, 2020
Location: Hendersonville, NC
Issues: Taxes

Madison Cawthorn, a small businessman and motivational speaker running for North Carolina's 11th Congressional District Seat, today announced he has signed Americans for Tax Reform's "Taxpayer Protection Pledge."

"With socialism on the rise, holding the line on taxes is more important than ever. As Margaret Thatcher once said, "The trouble with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money.' I'm proud to sign the ATR pledge because higher taxes and higher spending are not the answer. Instead, we need to keep tax rates as low as possible. Letting people keep more of what they earn is the best way to foster innovation and create opportunity," Cawthorn said.

Candidates who sign the Americans for Tax Reform pledge agree to:

ONE, oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses; and

TWO, oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.

Madison Cawthorn is an 8th generation resident of North Carolina's 11th Congressional district. His ancestors have served Western North Carolina communities for over 200 years including in the Revolutionary War.

Madison was homeschooled in Hendersonville and was nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy by Rep. Mark Meadows in 2014. However, Madison's plans were derailed that year after he nearly died in a tragic automobile accident that left him partially paralyzed and in a wheelchair.

Madison's ordeal built his faith, made him a fighter, helped him appreciate every day, and inspired him to help everyone he encounters overcome whatever adversity they face in their daily lives.

Today, Madison is a small businessman. He is the owner and CEO of a real estate investment Madison Cawthorn Signs "Taxpayer Protection Pledge" company. Madison is also a motivational speaker. He challenges people across the nation to have faith, work hard, play by the rules and pursue the American dream.

A constitutional conservative, Madison is committed to defending the values of faith, family and freedom that have made America great.

Madison attends Biltmore Church in Hendersonville. He enjoys hunting, cooking, travel, fitness, photography & videography, and studying history. He is engaged to be married to Cristina Bayardelle.
