Issues: Elections

Madison Cawthorn, a small businessman and motivational speaker running for North Carolina's 11th Congressional District Seat, today announced that he has received the endorsement of Sheriff George H. Erwin, Jr. (Retired) of Henderson County, North Carolina.

"I'm honored and humbled to receive the endorsement of Sheriff Erwin, who is a highly respected leader in our community. I'll do everything I can to bring a positive, can-do attitude to Congress. I'm grateful for Sheriff Erwin's trust and support and look forward to representing all of the people of the 11th district, regardless of their background," Cawthorn said.

Sheriff Erwin's full statement:

In 1797, Thomas Jefferson said, "The man who loves his country on its own account, and not merely for its trappings of interest or power, can never be divorced from it, can never refuse to come forward when he finds that she is engaged in dangers which he has the means of warding off."

Madison Cawthorn is a young man that loves his country and respects the principles and character of our founding fathers. He has a strong foundation of faith, commitment to his family and the determination and perseverance to accept challenges and find solutions. Madison has faced adversity that most of us will never know. He has shown through his adversity that he has the determination, commitment, dedication, perseverance and fortitude that is required to represent our congressional district. As a small business owner, he understands the challenges that a small business owner encounter. Challenges are nothing new to this amazing young man. Madison understands the issues that face everyday citizens and possesses the tenacity to roll up his sleeves and tackle each issue that affects the 11th Congressional District of North Carolina and America.

Madison has come forward, as Thomas Jefferson said, "At a time when our great nation is engaged in dangers." We, as a nation, are trillions of dollars in debt and Congress has failed to pass a budget in seven of the last 15 years. We have turned the corner as a nation. Our unemployment is at a 50-year low, more opportunities for all citizens, stronger military, veteran's receiving better medical care, the list goes on. However, there is so much more that needs to be done and we can do it with a can-do attitude. Madison Cawthorn has that can-do attitude.

I want my Congressman to live in the 11th Congressional District. Madison's family has been in Henderson County for generations and he continues to live here.

It is a distinct honor and privilege for me to endorse Madison Cawthorn for Congress. John Quincy Adams said, "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." Madison inspires others. We need him in Congress!
